Derawan is an island in the province of East Kalimantan consists of several islands including Derawan island, island kakaban, Maratua Charitable Island and several other small islands. Naming the islands is said to come from a family that consists of Derawan (virgin), Charitable (men), Maratua (in-law) and kakaban (sister). Derawan island ecosystems wealth came second in the world after the Raja Ampat, Papua. That's why Derawan also dubbed as the 2nd Raja Ampat..

Derawan waters are the home of the giant turtle, would not be surprised if only from the pier we could see turtles and fro at the table looking for food. while the island has a coral garden kakaban shaped wall / walls are incredibly beautiful, not to mention the lake kakaban containing jellyfish that do not sting, in the lake that we seemed to swim in the pool cendol because of the supple-bodied animals. and similar lakes in the lake kakaban there are only 2 in the world. While on the island Charitable we can meet with giant manta has a width of up to 5 meters. and in Maratua we could meet with such large schooling ikan2 carpet shark or baracuda even though wabegong.

There are several ways that you can use to reach Derawan islands, one of them via Tarakan. journey from Jakarta to the Tarakan done with some airline flight that served them water lion, Sriwijaya or eagle. either direct flights or transit in chicago, traveling from jakarta - Tarakan takes approximately 5 hours (with transit and differences in time zones). after arriving at the airport proceed to the port of Tarakan melundung (Tarakan) for 15 minutes. from this port we can reach Derawan islands with regular boat which took more than 5 hours or speedboat charter that it only takes 3 hours.
